Hepta Notes · Business Structure
One person can hold several roles. Each role still needs clear responsibilities.
A recent contract discussion highlighted how easily leadership duties, day-to-day delivery and incentive arrangements can overlap.
The ambiguity often stays hidden until someone asks a practical question: which work earns this payment, who approves it, and what happens when the responsibilities change?
Before finalizing the arrangement, map each role separately:
- Decisions the person can make
- Work they are expected to deliver
- Reporting and approval lines
- How performance is evidenced
- How each incentive is calculated
Then check that the contract, operating procedures and payroll instructions describe the same arrangement.
This is particularly important when one person both manages a team and delivers services personally. A broad title alone cannot explain every obligation or entitlement.
Clear role definitions give the business and the individual a shared reference before disagreements arise. They also make future changes easier to discuss and document.
